Word → Markdown
Word document in.
Markdown out.
For anyone who writes in Word and ships in Markdown.
Drag the file over. Copy the result. Done in seconds.
Drop a file here.
Or pick one with the button. Or just paste with Ctrl+V. Dozens at a time is fine.

How it works
- 01Drop your Word file onto the box above, or click to pick one. Dozens at a time is fine.
- 02Conversion starts the moment the file lands — no button, no queue on a server. It takes a few hundred milliseconds.
- 03Read the Markdown, tweak the knobs if you want a different bullet or fence style, then copy it or download the .md.
What's supported
- Both Word formats: .docx from 2007 onward and .doc from Word 97–2003
- Word for Mac and Word Online files, which are .docx under a different badge
- Headings as # ## ###, real pipe tables, ordered and bulleted lists
- Bold, italic, strikethrough, superscript, subscript, links and blockquotes
- A whole folder at once, out as one zip
What it won't do
- Word 6 and Word 95 files are too old to read
- Images don't come out of .doc — that format hides them where a browser can't reach
- Headers, footers and page numbers are page furniture, not document content, so they go
- Comments and tracked changes are dropped; accept or reject them in Word first
- Columns, text wrapping and page breaks have no Markdown equivalent
What survives
These carry over as-is. Anything else gets a best effort, and you'll be told when it doesn't line up.
Old .doc files skip the images — that format hides them where a browser can't reach.
